Breadline is the fifth track off of Megadeth's eighth album Risk. Ain't got no job, ain't got no smoke Ain't got a car, his life's a joke Living on the skids, thinks the world's just fine Forgot what he did, dancin' on the breadline No one there to bind him Nothin' to remind him Nowhere left to find him Ooh, about to lose his lifeline He's dancin' on the breadline Forgot who he is, forgot who.

Risk is not much of a departure from its two predecessors; more reflective, melodic, and conventional than the Megadeth of old, it delivers a well-played set of hard rock tunes suitable for metal and AOR fans alike. Some of those tunes are catchier than others, and 5/

Actually, I do. Most people hate (or dislike) Risk because of its less-than-metal content. I, however, find it refreshing and engaging. The music on this CD (the original moreso than the remaster) is of an extremely high caliber, and I rank this recond among my personal favourite Megadeth albums, and one of my favourites in general.

"Risk" received a highly negative reaction from the fans, and Megadeth have very rarely played any songs from it live. Early copies of "Risk" came with a free bonus "Extra Value" disc containing sample tracks from various alternative and nu metal bands who were starting to rise in their respective careers (Dope, Type O Negative, Biohazard.

"Risk" is a risk in terms of Megadeth changing it's sound, but the end product sounds more like an exploration of classic rock ("Breadline" sounds like a throwaway track from the mid's Alice Cooper band) with moment to moment electronic touches and prog-rock goofiness that goes nowhere fast.

Dancing on the breadline No one there to bind him Nothing to remind him Nowhere left to find him About to lose his lifeline He's dancing on the breadline Forgot who he is Forgot who he was Used to call the shots Now he can't connect the dots A mover and shaker Getting closer to his maker Lower than a hemline Dancing on the breadline No one.
