Since Skylarking, each XTC album was carefully composed and crafted, and Nonsuch is no different. Working with producer Gus Dudgeon (), XTC crafted their most immaculate album to date with Nonsuch.A measured and reflective record, recalling the Beach Boys more than the Beatles, the album retains some of their late-'80s psychedelic flourishes, but those have been integrated into an elaborate.

Digitally remastered and remixed two disc (CD + Blu-Ray) edition of the British Alt-Rock quartet's album. Nonsuch has been mixed for Surround Sound from the original studio masters by Steven Wilson (Porcupine Tree) with input from Andy Partridge and is fully approved by XTC.

's NONSUCH by XTC is a more mature and deeper album compared to their previous release, ORANGES AND LEMONS. What I find so interesting about NONSUCH is that the band wasn'r afraid to be more mature after an album that was more or less bubblegum and young audience-based/5(87).

"Holly Up on Poppy" is a song by Andy Partridge. It appeared on the album Nonsuch. The demo appeared on Andy's Fuzzy Warbles Volume 3 in Quotes Andy: “My daughter calls her rocking horse Poppy. Originally the song was titled ‘Holly High on Poppy’ but people thought it was about drugs. Even now someone's said it's about dying of cancer and taking drugs to ease the pain. But it.

for people who don't like "alternative music." With former Elton John producer Gus Dudgeon enveloping the band's sophisticated melodies in jazzy, baroque arrangements, Nonsuch rounds off XTC's sharper angles, smooths out the rough edges and makes the band's noise beautiful. The instrumentation includes strings, piano and horns, harking back to the Beach Boys' psychedelic period and the sublime.
